Workshop Overview
This interactive workshop will take place via Zoom on May 19th, 2026 from 10am – 12.15pm.
The Data Protection Fundamentals training course provides a comprehensive introduction to the core concepts and legal requirements surrounding personal data management. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the scope of the legislation, the fundamental principles of GDPR, and the various legal grounds for processing data. The programme guides attendees through identifying data processing activities, mapping data journeys within their organisation, and recognising the implications of data breaches, ensuring that learners are equipped with the essential knowledge to navigate the regulatory landscape.
In addition to legal compliance, the course delivers practical guidance on safeguarding personal data both in traditional and remote working environments. It covers the five key steps for keeping data safe, strategies for demonstrating GDPR compliance, and highlights the rights of data subjects to empower individuals in protecting their information. Participants will also receive actionable top tips for maintaining data security in everyday operations, making this training highly relevant for anyone responsible for handling personal data, whether they are new employees, volunteers, or managers overseeing onboarding processes.

Caroline is founder and Managing Director of CramdenTECH Ltd. She is a highly experienced business and training professional with a career spanning over three decades in both senior and middle management roles within third-level institutions in Ireland and Finland, as well as the non-profit sector. Currently serving as Managing Director of a leading capacity building, e-learning, and training consultancy, she brings twenty years’ lecturing and training expertise in business and industry topics, and seventeen years specialising in social enterprise development, strategic and business planning, corporate governance, fundraising, and communications for non-profits in Ireland. Caroline’s extensive background also includes international marketing management, instructional design, and hands-on experience supporting staff and directors across numerous organisations.

This workshop is especially valuable for new employees or non-profit volunteers who will be handling personal data on behalf of their organisation. It is equally beneficial for managers and supervisors overseeing the onboarding process for new staff or volunteers.
